HSC NPCC Annual Camp was held on 2nd December 2008. It was a 4 Day 3 Night camp
HSC NPCC's Annual Camp was usually a 3 Day 2 Night camp, while this year our lovable NCOs managed to persuade the teacher-in-charge, Mr Sheun, to hold a 4 Day 3 Night camp with fun and interesting activities.
On the first day, the campers fall-in with their humongous bag packs at around 7.45am in the school foyer, unlike the NCOs whose bag packs are rather small. Everyone's excited feelings were expressed on their faces, especially for the Sec 1 cadets as this was their first time attending the NPCC Annual Camp.
After pitching the tents and creating their own group flag and cheers, the Sec 1 and 2 campers had their lunch at the fire engine access area. Even though they only ate instant noodles and canned food, they were looking forward to the night walk that will be held at Pasir Ris Park at around 9pm at night.
After numerous fun games and activities, the night walk had finally arrived. All of them walked from the school compound towards Pasir Ris Park. When they reached there, NCO Yu Cheng sir and Camp-cord Eccles Sir gave them short briefing on safety precautions. After that, the cadet found a partner each and started the walk.
''It was very fun. I learnt how to watch my words and also to cooperate with my partner throughout the entire journey'' said Sec2 cadet, Wilfred Wong.
It was around 12am when the activity ended and 1 am by the time they reached school.
The next day, after having their Physical Training (PT), the cadets got back their Ez-link cards as they proceeded to City Hall MRT station to have their very own “Hai Sing NPCC Amazing Race”. The game starts in school and everyone ran as fast as they could towards Pasir Ris MRT station, hoping to be the first among others.
''The game was fun but also tiring, I learn how to cooperate more with my teammates and my group leader'' said Sec1 cadet, Jonathan Lim.
It was around 5pm when the game ended and the cadets went back to school by MRT. After having a long break, the cadets played a game called ''pioneering'', of which they were asked to use the equipments given by the NCOs, to create a gadget that has two or more functions.
''I've learnt knots that I had never learnt before from my Sec2 seniors and also teamwork when me and my team were discussing about the gadget'' said Sec1 cadet, Lucas.
After having dinner, the cadets had a game of Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), where the murderer appeared to be non-other than our very own H.O John Sir. Soon after, everyone had their wash ups and went back to their allocated tents to sleep.
On the third day of the camp, after having PT as usual, the cadets had their breakfast and practiced for the campfire night for the whole afternoon. Each group was also given time to practice on their own group performances. The night finally arrived, everyone was having a great time during the campfire especially for the graduating cadets (Sec4s) as they will be leaving the school.
''The campfire was great! The campers were really very enthusiastic!'' said graduating cadet, VI Daphane.
After the campfire, everyone was given a treat by the teacher in-charge, Mr Sheun, who ordered buffet for everyone. Even the Sec1 and 2 campers were included.
On the last day of the camp, the cadets falled in early in the morning and did their morning PT. This time, they had quite a number of push ups which was tough, but rather enjoyable to them as they endured together as a whole unit under the command of the NCOs. After breakfast, they were asked to fall in with their bag packs. Since it was the last day of the camp, all the groups had to do area cleaning.
Each group cleaned different places, not long after, all the places were cleaned. Everyone sat down at the school foyer with their bag packs and awards were given to the best male and female campers for both levels and also the best group.
''I felt that the camp went better than I expected. At first, I thought there would be a lot of problems that we will not be able to handle, but with quick thinking, we managed to pull through'' said NCO, Zulhairie.
